Trophies and Awards as Motivators
We all liked to be recognized for our accomplishments and in many cases trophies and awards are the first choice. Though many people today may shrug their shoulders at receiving recognition for their efforts, they do recognize being recognized. What are the psychological results of being the recipient of an award? Does it change the person in any way? Of course it does. right after all, we are human and Though some will deny it, we are affected by what others think of us. Take the young boy or girl who wins a Plaque and trophies in a sports plan, for example, baseball. The young person knows that they have been noticed by others for the way they played the game. Maybe they were the best hitter or most improved player. irrespective of what they did, they have been noticed for their efforts. An award sets them apart from the rest of the team. But more crucially, it motivates them to continue with their level of dedication to the sport. It shows them that others have watched their play and they were impressed with their level of achievement. Just as crucial, other gamers on the team see that if they can improve their level of play they may also be recognized. And of course, the coaches are happy because everyone tries to improve their skills. What about grown ups and the affects of winning awards and trophies? Most of us have been involved in some sort of group in which awards are presented on an yearly basis and we know how happy people today are when they get recognized for their accomplishments.
